A FAIRYTALE TOWN

2 days in Bled

2 days in Lake Bled: The quick guide

Ever dreamed of taking a snap of this beautiful lake? Here’s a quick guide for you to plan a 2 day trip to Lake Bled. Including what to do, where to stay and where to eat.

2 days in Bled will be like walking through a fairytale set in one of the most adorable and romantic little towns within the green Slovenian hills.

Where to sleep in Bled

Splash out at Hotel Kompass

Perched on a hill that overlooks the lake right in the centre of town. Its wide terrace is the perfect place to spend lazy afternoons sipping cocktails in the sun before having the mandatory sunset walk around the lake. The spa gives you plenty to do in case of rain or if you want to pamper yourself just because.

Take it easy at Vila Lipa

A lovely double story villa with private rooms and shared bathroom and kitchen where you will legitimately feel so at home you never want to leave. Everything is spotlessly clean and the location is perfect to reach the lake on foot. The host is so kind, welcoming and helpful you will want to become friends.

Where to eat in Bled

Lunch at Public & Vegan Kitchen

For a healthy, tasty and hearty portion of food head straight to this interesting place which looks like a mix between a pub and a restaurant. The food is delicious and appealing to non-vegans as well.

Dinner at Sova

An upmarket local restaurant ran by two young chefs and situated right on the lake. The dishes are typical Slovenian in a modern key, served in beautiful arrangements that please the eye.

Top 5 things to do in Bled

  1. Hike up Ojstrica for the best view of the lake. The hike is just 1.2km and starts on the road towards the parking by the camping grounds, you will see the signs on your left. At the top, you’ll have an incredibly wide view of the lake and surroundings.

  2. Visit the Bled Castle, perched on top of a hill, to learn about the local history and admire the lake from another good altitude angle.

  3. From June to September, spend a chilled day in the Castle Bathing Area. This outdoor bathing area with fantastic views of the lake, offers pools, kids dedicated areas and soft shaded grass under trees where you can take a nap. You’ll find it just below the Castle on the lake’s shore.

  4. Take a boat ride to the little island in the middle of the lake to visit the Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Mary.

  5. Have a taste of the indulgent Bled Cream cake. This 60-year-old recipe is a staple of the town and consists of puff pastry, custard, whipped cream, puff pastry and icing sugar. Bliss.
